Bird Corporation Mark 8 Respirator
- The Bird Mark 8 Series Respirators are pneumatically powered, pressure cycled, flow adjustable devices utilized for the delivery of routine IPPB therapy. They are used to provide short-term or intermittent mechanical ventilation for the purpose of augmenting lung expansion, delivering aerosol medication, and assisting ventilation.It is a pressure operated ventilation device for controlling lung ventilation.The rate of flow of oxygen through the ventilator, the negative expiratory pressure phase and inspiratory trigerring pressure may all be individually adjustable. In addition there is a control which allows the use of either 100% oxygen or a mixture of air and oxygen mixture. The Bird Mark 8 added the capabilities of NEEP (Negative End Expiratory Pressure). This was frequently used to power a set of fluidic servos.
